The short answer

What is an email signature generator?

A tool that builds the formatted block at the end of your emails for you. You type your name, role, company and contact details, add a photo and a logo, pick a design, and it produces a signature in the table markup email clients can display, ready to paste into your mail settings. No design work and no code.

How it works

From sign-up to signed off.

Six steps, from sign-up to your first email with it. It takes a few minutes.

  1. Step 1

    Sign up free

With a code sent to your email, or with Google or Microsoft. Your first month is free, and no card is asked for.

  2. Step 2

    Add your photo and logo

Upload them and crop them to fit. Your photo is what the animation is made from.

  3. Step 3

    Add your details

Name, job title, company, email and website. Phone, address and more can be added in the builder.

  4. Step 4

    Choose a design

Pick one of 12. Each has its own animation, run on your own photo, and each rests on its finished frame, so older Outlook shows your photo rather than a blank box.

  5. Step 5

    Make it yours

Set your brand colours and fonts, choose up to 5 social links, and add a banner if you want one. It saves as you go.

  6. Step 6

    Install it

Copy it and follow the steps for your mail client, on desktop and on your phone.

Examples

One generator, many kinds of work.

Four signatures made with the generator, for four kinds of work.

What goes in it

What to put in your signature.

Everything a signature here can hold. Not every design shows every line, and a design never shows a line you leave empty.

  • Name and job title

Your full professional name, and the role that tells a reader why you are writing.

  • Company and logo

Your company name in every design, and your logo beside it.

  • Photo

A face people recognise in their inbox, animated the way its design was drawn to.

  • Email and website

In every design, as working links.

  • Phone and address

A phone line in 7 of the 12 designs, and an address in 7.

  • Social links

Choose up to 5 of 10, including LinkedIn, Instagram, WhatsApp and a booking calendar.

Good practice

What makes a signature look professional.

  1. Keep it short. Include what a reader needs to place you and reach you, and nothing else.
  2. Put your name first. Name and role should be the first thing the eye lands on.
  3. Limit the links. Five at most, and only the networks your readers use.
  4. Check every link. Send yourself a test and click each one.
  5. Think about phones. A signature wider than 320px shrinks the whole email on an iPhone.
  6. Keep text as text. A signature that is one big image vanishes when images are blocked.

Outlook

Using Outlook?

Where the signature settings are depends on which Outlook you have: new Outlook, classic Outlook for Windows, Outlook on the web or the phone app.

Current Outlook plays the animation unless animation effects are switched off in Windows. Older versions show the first frame, and every design here makes that frame your finished photo.

Make your signature, and the install page walks you through each version step by step.

Who it is for

Made for people who write for a living.

Anyone who sends email for work and wants it to look the part. It is made for individuals: shared team signatures are not in the product yet.

  • Professionals and consultants
  • Small business owners
  • Freelancers
  • Sales
  • Creatives
  • Students and job seekers

Questions

Questions about the generator

Is the email signature generator free?

Yes, for your first month. You can make, edit and install your signature free for a month, with no card needed. To keep it after that costs £2.99 a month or £29.99 a year in the UK, €2.99 or €29.99 where the euro is the currency, and US$2.99 or US$29.99 everywhere else, with tax included. You can cancel at any time.

What is an email signature generator?

A tool that builds the formatted block at the end of your emails for you: your name, role, company, contact details, photo and links, laid out in markup email clients can display, so you do not have to design or code it yourself.

What should a professional email signature include?

Your full name, job title and company, one or two ways to reach you, and your website. A photo and a logo help people recognise you. Keep social links to the ones your readers use; the designs here show at most five.

Can I use the signature in Outlook?

Yes. The install page has steps for new Outlook, classic Outlook and Outlook on the web. Older Outlook for Windows shows only the first frame of an animation, and every design here is built so that frame is your finished photo.

How do I create an email signature?

Sign up, add your photo, logo and details, choose one of the designs, set your colours and links, then copy the signature and paste it into your mail client's signature settings. The builder saves as you go.

Should I include my phone number?

If people call you for work, yes. 7 of the 12 designs have a phone line; the others leave it out to keep the layout clean.

Does the signature work on phones?

Every design is 320 pixels wide, which fits the narrowest phone screen still in use, so it is not shrunk or scrolled sideways on a phone.

Is it an image, or real text?

Real text. Your name, details and links are HTML, so they can be selected, read aloud by a screen reader, and still show when a mail client blocks images. Only the photo, logo and icons are images.
